Italy ...
Janet and I traveled to Italy for two weeks
during the end of April, beginning of May 2007. We visited Rome, Florence,
Venice, and Tuscany. Italy is fantastic, we both fell in love with
the country. Here's a few of our pictures.
FYI: please be patient with the digital pictures loading on
your screen. I've converted these pix to web friendly sizes but
there's still a lot of data to download.

Janet in the Piazza Navona in the center of Rome.
This was our first day in Italy. After we finally got to Rome, we slept in out
apartment for a couple of hours before heading out to explore the city.

Frank in front of the Pantheon. I was blown
away by this building. You have to see it in person to understand what I
mean.

Janet standing in the rain in the ancient city
of Pompei.

An
alley in Pompei.

Flavians Amphitheater, or as we call it
today, the Colleseum.

A
funny thing happened on the way ......

The better known view ......

A
piazza in Florence. Not in view (to my right) is where the replica of the David
stands. The replica marks the spot where the original David stood until it was
moved inside the museum.

Janet at the entrance to the Ponte Vecchio in
Florence ......

Fiesole. A beautiful town overlooking Florence.
The nicest part of visiting the Florence area. A must see.

Ahhhh...... Venice !!!!

Taking in the view from the Rialto
Bridge.

It
doesn't get any more romantic than this...... until you take a gondola
ride.

The island of Burano in the Venetian Lagoon.
The houses are all painted with vivid colors. They said that Venice once looked
like this.

The picture says it all ......

One of the smaller canals in Venice where real
people live.

The canal in front of our hotel. This picture
was taken from the front door looking toward the Grand Canal.

Our first day in Tuscany. This picture was taken
at a resturaunt / winery that we stopped at on the way to our hotel in
Siena.

Janet in the Piazza Del Campo in Siena.

Tuscany...... it's everything the movies make it
out to be.

Our last day in Tuscany. After driving around the
countryside for most of the day, Janet and I stopped at this quaint town
and explored for a while. I need to look up in my notes the name of the town and
update this with it's name.
